Viewing and Printing Posts

Nearly all my posts are jpg files. If the font is too small to read, you can make it larger by double clicking on it. To further enlarge the size, hold down the control key while pressing the + key until the file is the size you want it to be. To print a post, it is easiest to save it as a jpg file on the computer or a memory stick, and then when you want it to print, most printers will give you the options 'best fit to page' which may be too small to read easily or may fill up the entire page depending on the size of the file, or 'stretch to page' which stretches the post to fill up one entire page no matter what size the file is. Any other non-jpg file should be easy to read and print to a readable size.

Ratio and Proportion Problems

1) If Rob makes three times as much money as Ray, and Roy makes $3 more than twice as much as Ray, what is the ratio of Rob’s earnings to Roy’s earnings if the earnings for all three total $21? Does that ratio change if the total earnings of the three are $42?

2) A bag contains 6 blue marbles, 2 red marbles, and 12 green marbles. What is the ratio of green marbles to blue marbles? What is the probability (express your answer as a %) of reaching into the bag without looking and pulling out a green marble if no other marbles have been removed.

3) If you can purchase 3 tomatoes for 89 cents, at this rate how many tomatoes can you buy with $50?

If the person who receives the most money in this relationship gets $ $12,000,000 as his share, how much money does the person who receives the second most amount get? How much was the grand prize? Using the ratio above, how much would each person get if they shared a total of $64,000 in winnings?

9) On a map, the scale shows that 1” represents 80 miles. If you are traveling at an average rate of 45 miles per hour between two cities that are 2.25 inches apart on the map, how long would your trip take?

10) There are 2 pints in a quart, and 4 quarts in a gallon. How many pints are there in 4.25 gallons?

11) What is the ratio of the area of a circle with an 8” radius to the radius of a circle with a 2” radius? You will need to know the equation for the area of a circle to work this problem.

Revised Calendar for Spring Session

This is for my Tues.- Thurs. evening classes. TABE testing will be on Tues. June 14th; not on Tues. June 7th as I had indicated. I was looking at the calendar for the Spring session before it was revised due to the week we closed for snow we had in Jan. I was on schedule to finish reviewing for the TABE for the 7th, so we have an extra two days to review for the TABE and the GED. Sorry about the mistake on my part...I had actually put this revised calendar on my blog several weeks ago and forgot about the revision. Here is the revised calendar again:
